About the heights

Heights are the commonly published survey figures in metres. Everest is shown as 8,849 m, the 8,848.86 m figure that Nepal and China announced jointly in December 2020. Some smaller peaks have more than one published height; we use the figure most guidebooks and trekking permits quote. Eight of the world's fourteen 8,000-metre peaks are in Nepal, and all eight are in this game.
